Λωρίδα της Γάζας: Ομάδες ενόπλων έκλεψαν πολλά εκατομμύρια από χρηματοκιβώτια τραπεζών
Ομάδες ένοπλων Παλαιστινίων, μια εκ των οποίων φέρεται ότι πρόσκειται στη Χαμάς, έκλεψαν τον περασμένο μήνα 66 εκατ. ευρώ από τα χρηματοκιβώτια πολλών τραπεζών στη Γάζα, σύμφωνα με σημερινό δημοσίευμα της γαλλικής εφημερίδας Le Monde.
Η εφημερίδα απέκτησε πρόσβαση σε ένα έγγραφο που έστειλε η Τράπεζα της Παλαιστίνης σε «ορισμένους διεθνείς εταίρους» της, όπου περιγράφει τις διαρρήξεις, μία εκ των οποίων έγινε στο κυριότερο υποκατάστημά της στην Πόλη της Γάζας.
Στις 16 Απριλίου υπάλληλοι «διαπίστωσαν ότι κάποιοι είχαν ανοίξει μια τρύπα στην οροφή της αίθουσας των χρηματοκιβωτίων», εξηγεί η εφημερίδα, διευκρινίζοντας ότι οι δράστες πήραν κασέτες με χαρτονομίσματα που περιείχαν ισραηλινά σέκελ αξίας που ισοδυναμεί με 2,8 εκατομμύρια ευρώ. Το πρωί της επόμενης ημέρας, 17 Απριλίου, «ένοπλες ομάδες», εξοπλισμένες με εκρηκτικά, πήγαν και πάλι στο κτίριο για να ανατινάξουν το τσιμεντένιο πλαίσιο που είχε φτιαχτεί την προηγουμένη ώστε να προστατευθούν τα χρήματα. Άνοιξα τρία χρηματοκιβώτια και πήραν διάφορα χαρτονομίσματα, συνολικής αξίας 29 εκατ. ευρώ.
Στις 18 Απριλίου δέχτηκε επίθεση το δεύτερο υποκατάστημα, το σημαντικότερο στο κέντρο της πόλης, από μια ομάδα ανδρών που δήλωσαν ότι ανήκουν «στις ανώτατες αρχές της Γάζας» - διατύπωση που παραπέμπει στη Χαμάς, σύμφωνα με τη Le Monde. Οι δράστες έφυγαν αφού πήραν 33,6 εκατομμύρια ευρώ σε ισραηλινά σέκελ.
Σύμφωνα με τις πληροφορίες της εφημερίδας, ο ισραηλινός στρατός «κατέσχεσε (στη Γάζα) ένα σημαντικό χρηματικό ποσό» που ανήκε στην Τράπεζα. Η Le Monde επικαλείται ισραηλινά μέσα ενημέρωσης που τον Φεβρουάριο ανέφεραν ότι κατασχέθηκαν χρήματα που αντιστοιχούσαν σε «πολλές δεκάδες εκατομμύρια δολάρια» ώστε να μην πέσουν στα χέρια της Χαμάς.
Στο ρεπορτάζ περιγράφονται επίσης οι δυσκολίες που αντιμετωπίζει η Τράπεζα της Παλαιστίνης, λόγω του πολέμου, να προστατεύσει τα χρήματα της αλλά και το πόσο δύσκολο είναι για τους κατοίκους να έχουν πρόσβαση σε ρευστό χρήμα. Μόνο δύο ATM λειτουργούν ακόμη, στη Ράφα και το Ντέιρ Αλ Μπάλαχ, όταν υπάρχει ηλεκτρικό ρεύμα», υπογραμμίζει η εφημερίδα.
Σύμφωνα εξάλλου με μαρτυρίες Γαζαίων, που επιβεβαιώνονται από τα βίντεο ασφαλείας, ένοπλοι μασκοφόροι στέκονται δίπλα στα ΑΤΜ και ζητούν ένα ποσοστό από τα χρήματα που αποσύρουν οι καταθέτες.
