New Netflix Menendez Brothers Doc Wants You to Think They’re Innocent
Vince Bucci/AFP via Getty ImagesHaving allowed Ryan Murphy to make his case against Lyle and Erik Menendez with his eight-part dramatic series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Netflix now lets the infamous brothers tell their own tale in The Menendez Brothers, a feature-length documentary, premiering Oct. 7, that paints them in a wholly sympathetic light. Those who’ve rallied behind the siblings and their claims that they murdered their parents because of lifelong sexual abuse and an imminent fear for their lives will eagerly take to director Alejandro Hartmann’s non-fiction film, whose main draw is new telephone interviews with the imprisoned convicts. Anyone less convinced of their “abuse excuse,” however, are likely to find it a distasteful attempt to paint the men not as victimizers but as victims of their parents, the media, and an unjust legal system. On Aug. 20, 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez used shotguns to literally obliterate their parents as they sat watching TV in the family’s lavish Beverly Hills home. The explanation they ultimately gave for this crime was a history of heinous rape and abuse at the hands of their father José, an entertainment industry powerhouse whom they both adored and feared, as did their mother Kitty, who they allege knew about and ignored their mistreatment.Read more at The Daily Beast.

CNN Host Hammers GOP Rep Over JD Vance’s Non-Answer on 2020 at Debate

The Osmond Family Cheating Scandal Rocking ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’
Photo Illustration by Thomas Levinson/The Daily Beast/Getty/BravoThe Real Housewives of Salt Lake City have hit Milwaukee and brought with them something entirely foreign to the region: relentlessly aggressive gossip. Each lady brought rumors and nastiness aboard the tiny private jet, packed away to use at the most inopportune moment possible. They’re the best. After a tumultuous ropes course that left the group in utter chaos, Whitney tells her husband that she feels the ladies are finally in a good enough place for a trip. It’s one of those moments where the forces of Bravo friction are stronger than anything based in reality, as a typical friend group might cancel a trip given everyone’s fighting. But this isn’t a typical friend group, it’s a reality TV cast. And everyone’s vying to be employee of the month. The gossip is all destructive, absurd, and utterly salacious. Only in Salt Lake City would a bodacious browgirl have the smoking gun that a Z-list Osmond descendent is cheating on a Housewife. Angie, hair stylist to the stars, obviously has the hookup to all the cosmetology drama, and she knows she has to tell Britani.Read more at The Daily Beast.

Trump Is Absolutely Fuming Over the Release of Bombshell Election Case Doc
David Swanson/ReutersDonald Trump is clearly not happy about the release of a bombshell 165-page motion Wednesday filed by special counsel Jack Smith which lays out a sprawling timeline of how the former president attempted to claw his way back into power after losing the 2020 election. The former president initially laid out his case in various Truth Social posts later on Wednesday, claiming the unsealing of the document was another Democratic plot. He then repeated many of those claims in an almost-two-minute rant with NewsNation Wednesday night, in which Trump bragged about winning the classified documents case in Florida, described Democratic opponent Kamala Harris as “more incompetent than Biden,” and claimed the accusations within the document are “nothing new.” Read more at The Daily Beast.

I’m Calling It: This Is the Most Underrated Brand in Men’s Skincare Right Now
Scouted/The Daily Beast/Caldera + Lab. Scouted selects products independently. If you purchase something from our posts, we may earn a small commission.I’ve been a big fan of Caldera + Lab ever since its game-changing facial serum came onto the market in 2021. To this day, The Good Serum is one of my favorite ever skincare products of all time. Since then, Caldera + Lab has expanded its product line with more skin and hair products. While it’s technically a men’s skincare company, all of Caldera + Lab’s products are unisex, and I would highly recommend the serum no matter your gender. Even the beard oil could double as a face or hair oil. Either way, if you love luxe skincare products made from natural ingredients, this eco-friendly brand should absolutely be on your radar. Imagine if Kiehl’s or Grown Alchemist were out there wild harvesting high-altitude plants, wildflowers, and natural oils from the Teton Mountain Range in Wyoming or the glacial fields of the North Pacific. Tim Walz Drops the Mr. Nice Guy Routine and Attacks JD Vance
Getty Images/Andrew HarnikKamala Harris’ campaign promised Tim Walz would take a more aggressive approach on the campaign trail following a staid debate Tuesday night, and the vice presidential contender immediately delivered. Speaking at a rally in York, Pennsylvania, the Democratic VP candidate ditched the Mr. Nice Guy routine to revive his favorite attack on the Republican ticket. “Turns out, Donald Trump's people and their definition of freedom is freedom to invade your doctor's office, freedom to invade your bedroom,” Walz said. “They’re super concerned about all of our bedrooms. That’s not normal. That is not normal.” Speaking to the suggestion that, as a teacher, he should stop calling others “weird,” Walz said, “Then quit doing weird things, and that’s how that works.” And while Walz celebrated the “civil, but spirited debate” he and JD Vance had Tuesday, he also said that Vance had gaslighted the audience by trying to mislead them on Trump’s record. Opinion: Opinion: It’s Time for Joe Biden's Administration to Declassify All Its Khashoggi Intelligence
Illustration by Eric Faison/The Daily Beast/AP ImagesSix years ago today, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered by the Saudi Arabian government. The US government has since declassified some information on Khashoggi’s murder, including its judgment that Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammad bin Salman approved the order to “capture or kill” Khashoggi. But far too much remains hidden, and this secrecy both prevents accountability and serves to endanger other journalists. This is unacceptable, especially while the Biden administration upholds a State Department determination that MBS has “sovereign immunity” for his role in the murder—at least while he is head of the Saudi government.Read more at The Daily Beast.

Milli Vanilli Is Hotter Than Ever Thanks to the Menendez Brothers

Remember them?Well, if not, Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan, the duo that was Milli Vanilli, broke onto the scene in 1989 with hits like “Blame It on the Rain” and “Girl I’m Gonna Miss You,” but fell victim to what might be considered by today’s standards a total cancellation when the public learned that they were actually lipsynching their lyrics. When their dubbed vocals were made public, Milli Vanlli was stripped of their Best New Artist Grammy they snagged at the 1990 awards ceremony, and essentially thrown out of the business.Read more at The Daily Beast.
