Even Fox News Can’t Get Trump to Debate Harris Again
Michael M.Santiago/Getty ImagesDonald Trump confirmed Wednesday that he won’t debate Kamala Harris again after Fox News made a last-ditch attempt to set up another showdown in the final stretch of the 2024 presidential election. The network said letters had been sent to both campaigns inviting the candidates for a debate on either Oct. 24 or 27 in Pennsylvania which would be moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. In a trademark name-calling, all-caps Truth Social, Trump confirmed the Fox debate—or any other, for that matter—is just not going to happen.“I WON THE LAST TWO DEBATES, ONE WITH CROOKED JOE, THE OTHER WITH LYIN’ KAMALA,” Trump wrote. “I ACCEPTED THE FOX-NEWS INVITATION TO DEBATE KAMALA ON SEPTEMBER 4TH, BUT SHE TURNED IT DOWN. JD VANCE EASILY WON HIS DEBATE WITH TAMPON TIM WALZ, WHO CALLED HIMSELF A KNUCKLEHEAD! I AM ALSO LEADING IN THE POLLS, WITH THE LEAD GETTING BIGGER BY THE DAY - AND LEADING IN ALL SWING STATES.”Read more at The Daily Beast.

Is a ‘Real Housewife of Salt Lake City’ Star’ Business Scamming Customers?
Photo Illustration by Thomas Levinson/The Daily Beast/BravoWhen a fire starts, most people strive to put it out. In the treacherous world of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, however, a fire is most typically joined by a series of others, filling the entire room with inextinguishable flames. In layman’s terms, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is an inferno, and it shows no signs of stopping.Four episodes in, Season 5 of the series has served as victorious proof that the best show on TV will not be ceding its spot. Alliances have shifted so massively week-to-week that the only consistent expectation is to have no idea what happens next. After a brawl that left friend-of Britani Bateman in shambles and Bronywn Newport on the outs with Lisa Barlow and Heather Gay, it’s a new day in Milwaukee.Read more at The Daily Beast.

Trump Oddly Selective in Showing ‘Full Metal Jacket’ Clips
Brendan McDermid/ReutersDonald Trump is now showing clips from Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam-era war film Full Metal Jacket to try to make the case that the U.S. military—in its current state under the Biden administration—is far removed from its glory days. But Trump, who appears to have an at-best tenuous understanding of depictions of that war on the big screen, was quite selective in the brief excerpts of the 1987 movie that he showed a Pennsylvania crowd Wednesday. R. Lee Ermey’s character, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, was featured prominently, in particular his loud, in-your-face commands at the marines-in-training.Not included in the video package, though, was Hartman’s fate: being shot to death by a recruit he often mocked, who in turn kills himself.Read more at The Daily Beast.

New Horror Series ‘Teacup’ Will Shock You With Gruesome Twists
Photo Illustration by Thomas Levinson/The Daily Beast/PeacockTeacup begins so intriguingly that one worries it might have an M. Night Shyamalan problem—namely, the inability to satisfyingly explain or resolve a tantalizing mystery. Fortunately, Ian McCulloch’s eight-episode horror series (executive produced by Saw and The Conjuring mastermind James Wan, and inspired by Robert R. McCammon’s 1988 novel Stinger) handles its inexplicable phenomenon by looking to past genre classics, on which it puts a loopy spin that makes it at once familiar and distinctive.Premiering Oct. 10 on Peacock, Teacup consistently expands the scope of its story (and its central crisis) all the way to a finale that suggests there’s even more to tell. It’s an out-there thriller that rehashes and remixes to engaging B-movie effect. On a remote Georgia farm that doubles as the site of her veterinarian clinic, Maggie (Yvonne Strahovski) shows her son Arlo (Caleb Dolden) how to catch a bee with a teacup and a piece of paper. This demonstration is a metaphor for the predicament to come, although before that begins, McCulloch swiftly delineates his protagonists and their fraught relationships.Read more at The Daily Beast.
